The majority of the first Grand Seiko models were produced in a 80 micron gold-filled case but some were also made in platinum. The new re-creations are therefore offered in both these metals and also in stainless steel.

THE FEATURES

The case, combining the essence of the original and contemporary taste

The case is virtually identical to the original, but its diameter has been increased to 38mm, in line with today’s consumers’ taste.

Shaped to recreate the elegant curve

Shaped to recreate the elegant profile

The dual-curved sapphire crystal is also loyal to the original shape and gives the re-creation the same pleasingly gentle profile.

Recreated domed dial, the combination with the sapphire crystal

The domed dial and the sapphire crystal

The gentle curve of the domed dial toward the outer perimeter of the dial lends the watch its classic look, which is enhanced by the dual sapphire crystal.

The wedge cut hour markers at the twelve, three, six, and nine o’clock positions and the drum cut hour markers in the remaining eight positions make the dial easily legible at a glance.

The recreation of the original design for the crown and clasp

The crown and clasp

The design of the crown and clasp are also loyal to the 1960 original.

MOVEMENTIndividually certified

All these three watches are offered as limited editions, each with its own special ‘Inspection Certificate’, whose design also echoes that of the 1960 original.

The first Grand Seiko recreated in platinum.

The first Grand Seiko recreated in platinum.

This model is the re-creation of the original platinum model which was produced in a very limited number. The platinum 999 used for this model has high purity than the 950 that is normally used for watches. The base of the dial is in gold, which allows the Grand Seiko logo to be particularly sharp in its outline and detail. The hour markers are also in 18k gold, which is indicated by the special dial mark under the 6 o`clock position.

A caliber with specially adjusted accuracy, exclusive to the Platinum version

The mean daily precision rate of the Caliber 9S64 movement under static conditions averages -3 to +5 seconds; however, the movement used in the Platinum 999 model has been adjusted to an even higher level of precision. It has an average daily rate of between -1 to +5 seconds (under static conditions), which is higher than any other Grand Seiko mechanical watch.

The case back is set to make the Grand Seiko emblem above the 3 o’clock position, which is also faithful to the original model.

This version is offered in 18k yellow gold. The entire case is in gold, in place of the 80-micron gold–filled case used in the original.

Using new techniques, the embossed Grand Seiko logo has the same sharp outline as the original.

The hour markers are also in 18k gold. The star mark at the six o’clock position indicates that this model uses gold for the hour markers.
