#Tbt to #igtakeover courtesy of @thewatcherist ..."a little background on the object of our study: The Grand Seiko SBGJ019. The watch is part of Seiko's Hi-Beat GMT collection, which includes, among others, the famous green-dial SBGJ005, winner of the "Petite Aiguille" prize at the 2014 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève. It is powered by Seiko's in-house 9S86 caliber, a unique true GMT movement beating at 36,000 bph. The round case-inspired by the design of the original Grand Seiko (ref. 3180), which debuted in 1960-is stainless steel and hand-polished using the Zaratsu technique. The result is an incredible mirror finish that captures light in countless ways, giving the watch a quintessential wrist presence. The timepiece measures 39.5mm in diameter and is 14mm tall. It's worth noting that part of that thickness stems from the box-shaped hi-definition sapphire crystal, the exact form of which took four years to develop to avoid any distortion to any element on the face of the watch. In other words: It looks pristine and doesn't wear thick at all. The dial, in fact, is a beautiful very dark anthracite grey sunburst pattern, with an even darker (and shinier) ridged GMT chapter ring, applied markers, and a delicious touch of red on the GMT descriptor. It comes on a matte crocodile strap, with a tri-fold deployant clasp."
